Would you believe me if I said this was all an accident? I was out shopping one day and I just cannot find a watch to match my sneakers. Yeah, sneakers lol. I wore a specific brand and they were dope but just didn't have anything specific I was looking for, I mean I was still a collector, I loved this brand. The colour-way might have been close but there was always an off key colour to ruin the vibe! If you know me, you would know how obsessed I was! If you think I am crazy about sneakers, mate you haven't seen nothing yet!
“I found a solution for a problem.”
I started to take apart watches, I damaged a couple of hundred pounds worth. Crazy to think how much money I used to spend on these. So on my last attempt before I gave up, I did it!
The way I saw this initially was if I could somehow work backwards, in simple terms but boy it wasn't that easy. Once you open a watch its not just the wear and tear parts but the mechanics of the inner workings too. I learnt real quick.
I did a few modifications, for example putting a logo in the display and changing the colour of a display. Some parts took so longer than others - I just didn't want to attempt it again after being able to fix it as it was a headache! Clearly some parts were done by machines! I started to build/ customize these watches for some friend's who had beat up watches and made them look brand new or some just a custom build from scratch.
I built a few for myself to match some my trainers. Then I jumped on YouTube to share what I was doing including reviews/ unboxings and so on. Then I went to the company with my ideas and they were impressed then fast forward 2 weeks I got asked me come to HQ for a meeting. They showed interest but nothing really happened as there was a timing issue at the time for the next Anniversary event. So yeah, I just to carried on with what I was doing, I then jumped on to more Socials and it kinda blew up.
Remember, any new socials that came
out - I had to adapt and keep up, especially if its free! So, I started
to sell on a made to order basis only. I did this until I finished University.
I'm in no debt #justsayin *wink emoji* Once I started my new job, after a few months I couldn't keep up with the demand of orders, I had to stop along with creating content on YouTube.
What was I going to do now with all my socials? The only thing I had which was personal was Facebook and that was dead after University. Everything else was STAREMIX, I had put so much effort/ time and energy into this. I had like 500+ photos of watches on my Instagram and I had made so many friends. I built such a strong network whilst doing all of this, I'm just going to cut this all off?
After a few weeks of contemplating whilst at the same time being overwhelmed with my new career, I realized I didn't want to stop. Well not everything anyway - I love talking to people - networking was a vibe.
So I deleted 99% of my photos. I changed my page to a personal blog! It became 'my digital diary'. Welcome to my bank statement or this is why I'm always broke kinda thing lol.
Fast forward to present, I now run a Lifestyle blog on Instagram.
